Sugrue, the David Boies Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania, is the author several books, including, “Not Even Past: Barack Obama and the Burden of Race.” Sugrue study explores President Obama’s life and political development in the context of the Civil Rights Movement, persistent economic inequality, and the myth of the U.S. as a “post-racial” society.
