Reader: Detroit is the town that the unions killed

Apr. 20, 2012 — Re: your four-part series on Detroit:

Detroit is the town that the unions killed. Have you mapped the economic impact areas of business and governmental units that are near ruin as a result of unreasonable union salary and pension demands? What is the tipping point? Is it when their contribution to political activities exceeds their contributions to their own retirement funds? Is it when union jobs are jeopardized by the very high salaries and benefit packages they fight for?
